Happy Post
Words and Pictures by: Norah Tahiri
Happy Post for Japan is a campaign to provide support for the tsunami victims in Japan by sending them messages of hope that have been written on post-it notes. The group in charge, Happy Post Project, wants to collect over 3,000 post-it messages from around the world and use them to create an art exhibit in NYC to raise donations for the victims.
When BECA’s founder, Jaime Koppel, approached me about getting BECA involved I thought it was a great idea. All of the students at San Jeronimo Bilingual School were given a post-it note and asked to write a message of hope whether it be a drawing or message (in Spanish or English). I then took pictures of the post-its and some of the kids with their messages to be used in the campaign.
I wanted to share some of these messages because they were absolutely amazing. It is so humbling and inspiring to see kids who have so little write such genuine messages of support. I think it’s a lesson to us all that something as small as a simple message of hope, can go a long way in someone’s life.
I have over two hundred post-its but these were my favorite that I sent in for the campaign. Enjoy.
